The 2011 Golden Slipper Stakes still has 275 nominees left after the second acceptances have been done. Out of this number, the Patinack Farm racing stable has the most number of nominees left with 35. Their roster of nominees is led by Pane in the Glass which has already won the Inglis Nursery and the Inglis Classic and has collected $370,000 worth of prize money.
Pane in The Glass is the sire of Testa Ross and the dam of Lyrics. Other nominated horses from Patinack Farm are Boys on Tour and Win for Naara. Boys on Tour has one win in three career starts and this gelding has earned $17,150 worth of prize money. The John P. Thompson-trained Boys on Tour is the sire of General Nediym and the dam of Global Dance.

Other nominees for the 2011 Golden Slipper Stakes from Patinack Farm are Miss Atomic, Star of Coureuse, Another Actress, Lady Racer, Frankenbeans, Heart of Bathory, Isopach, Braymont, Wehrman, Better Later, Helping Hand, Win for Wilson, The General’s Niece, Motifs, Film School, Lieutenant Colonel, Ortmayer, Veeten, More Bubbly, Kneeling, Pear Tart, Seeds of Love, Win for Layla, Coach Stone, Strip Show, Florentina, Snippets of Glory and Defiant Fame.
The nominees from Patinack Farm were sired by some of the great Australian race horses such as Encosta de Lago, Redoute’s Choice, Flying Spur and American-bred More Than Ready. Following Patinack Farm’s lead is the Darley Australia Racing System with 29 nominees which is headlined by the undefeated Sepoy which is guided by legendary trainer Peter Snowden.
Sepoy is the sire of Elusive Quality and the dam of Watchful. This chestnut colt has not been defeated in four career races and he has collected $819,250 worth of career prize money. Sepoy has won the Maribymong Trial Stakes and the Blue Diamond Preview which made him the top favourite to win the 2011 Golden Slipper Stakes according to the betting odds of online bookmakers.
Other race horses from the Darley Australia Racing System are One Last Dance and Karuta Queen. One Last Dance got her second career win at the Blue Diamond Preview by a slim margin over Anevay. One Last Dance is the sire of Encosta de Lago and the dam of One World. One Last Dance was foaled in October 2, 2008 and this bay filly has collected about $95,000 in prize money.
Meanwhile, Karuta Queen is also undefeated in four career starts. This horse which is trained by Neville Layt last won at the Magic Millions 2YO Classic by three lengths. Karuta Queen is the sire of Not a Single Doubt and the dam of Card Queen and she has collected $1.4 million worth of prize money. She is also trained by Peter Snowden.
Other 2011 Golden Slipper Stakes aspirants from Darley Australia are Helmet, Finrod, Burnout, Induna, Petrify, Uncommon, Caline, Ambidexter, Sindarin, Pillory, Disputes, Intaglio, Aerobatics, Altar, Benfica, Tallat, Jacqueminot, Eleuther, Spain, Shiso, Anise, Elan, Trapunto, Parquetry, Frankenfurter, Moravany, Glissade, Riverbank and Kuhreihen.
Helmet is a chestnut colt which is the sire of Exceed and Excel and the dam of Accessories. He was foaled in October 21, 2008 and is trained by Peter Snowden. He has two wins and one third place finish to his credit and he has collected total prize money of $130,700. His wins came via 1200-metre handicap races at the Rosehill Gardens Racecourse.
Next to Darley Australia is the Victory Lodge stable which has 17 nominees left that is headlined by Satin Shoes. Satin Shoes is owned by Dr. Edmund Bateman and he has $235,000 worth of career prize money. This bay filly is undefeated in three career starts with her greatest win coming at the Silver Slipper Stakes. The Clary Conners-trained Satin Shoes is the sire of Flying Spur and the dam of Star Satire.
The other Victory Lodge nominees for the 2011 Golden Slipper Stakes are Glowing Light, The Viper, Pride of China, Invest, Suzanne, Our Girl Charlize, Pell Mell, Gunhilda, Naria, Irish Times, By the Hour, Head for the Stars and Bright Heart. Some of these young race horses have been sired by some great thoroughbreds such as Danzero, More than Ready and Dane Shadow.
Trainer Darren Hayes also has 17 nominees left for the 2011 Golden Slipper Stakes and they are Poitier, Rock Robster, Whisper Downs, Mabsam, Almahaab, Niconoise, Rifleman, Habaayib, Fortune of War, Here de Siren, Asheerah, Buratti, She’s Cherry Rype, Command Ruler, Cross of Gold, Ijaaza and Bladon. Most of these thoroughbreds are sired by Redoute’s Choice.
Meanwhile, Gai Waterhouse still has 13 nominees under her ward and these include Piecart, Cape City Flyer, Colloquial, Valley of the Kings, Bateau Bay, Ready in Waiting, Chancellor, Cyclone Stanley, Rocky Two, Niagara, Kimura Sun and Romanair. Waterhouse hopes that one of her horses can make it to the final field of the 2011 Golden Slipper Stakes.
After the Waterhouse race horses, Chris Waller still has 11 nominations left which includes Urban Rocker, She’s Clean, Grift, Testabolt, Carbon Taikun, Fast and Sexy, Meshmaker, Mossmoney, Flying Zero, Chimpalou, Out of the Shadow and Ingham Magic. Some of Chris Waller’s nominees for the Golden Slipper are sired by Fastnet Rock, Danzero, Encosta de Lago, Lohnro, Redoute’s Choice and Testa Rossa.
