The second acceptances for the 2011 Golden Slipper Stakes are done and more than 200 horses are still in the running. Out of all the racing stables in contention, Patinack Farm has 35 nominees while Darley Australia has 29 nominees. Meanwhile, the Victory Lodge stable has 17 nominees while Chris Waller still has 11 nominees left. Gerald Ryan still has six horses for contention.

Out of the hundreds of hopefuls for the 2011 Golden Slipper Stakes, Sepoy is still the top favourite according to the Golden Slipper Stakes betting odds at various online bookmakers. Sportsbet gave Sepoy betting odds of 2.00 while IASBet assigned betting odds of 3.00. CentreBet also gave Sepoy the top betting odds with 2.85 while Luxbet gave lower betting odds at 2.80.
The Peter Snowden-trained Sepoy had an undefeated run before falling to Smart Missile in the 2011 Todman Stakes. Sepoy was the odds-on favourite to win the 1200-metre, Group 2 Todman Stakes at 1.18 but Smart Missile pulled off an upset in thrilling fashion. Smart Missile had betting odds of 21.00 coming into the race and finishing at third is John O’Shea’s Foxwedge with Nash Rawiller on board.
With an impressive performance at the Todman Stakes, Smart Missile is now trailing Sepoy in the 2011 Golden Slipper Stakes betting odds list with IASBet betting odds of 5.50 and identical betting odds of 6.00 from Centrebet and Luxbet. SportsBet gives Smart Missile betting odds of 5.00. Smart Missile would once again try to pull off an upset at the 2011 Golden Slipper Stakes over Sepoy.
Before the Todman Stakes, Smart Missile last competed in the 1000-metre Listed Breeders Plate at the Randwick Racecourse last October. However, he acquired a virus that made him unfit to race for a number of months. Sepoy is trained by Anthony Cummings and will be guided during the 2011 Golden Slipper Stakes by Glen Boss who has two Golden Slipper victories under his name.
Not to be left behind on the 2011 Golden Slipper Stakes betting odds is Elite Falls with identical betting odds of 8.00 from IASBet and Centrebet“>Centrebet and Luxbet betting odds of 9.00. Meanwhile, SportsBet has given Elite Falls Golden Slipper Stakes betting odds of 10.00. Elite Falls’ last victory came in the Group 2, 1200-metre Reisling Stakes over fellow Golden Slipper aspirant Satin Shoes.

This filly is trained by John O’Shea and it has more than $200,000 worth of career prize money to her credit. Elite Falls was foaled on the 23rd of August, 2008 and she has garnered one first place finish and two runner-up finishes.
Meanwhile, Foxwedge is next on the 2011 Golden Slipper Stakes betting odds market with SportsBet betting odds of 7.00 and IASBet betting odds of 8.00. Luxbet gave Foxwedge betting odds of 8.50 while Centrebet gave him betting odds of 9.50. With his solid run at the Todman Stakes, Foxwedge is holding firm on to his betting odds and he can be the dark horse of the race.
The John O’Shea-trained Foxwedge was foaled on October 4, 2008 and is owned by Dr. Edmund Bateman. This colt is the sire of Fastnet Rock and the dam of Forest Native. Foxwedge has close to $150,000 worth of prize money to his credit. Foxwedge has won two career races: the 1100-metre Always Recycling Handicap and the Chipping Norton Stakes.
