About the Wodonga Races
The Wodonga racecourse is a racing hub at the Murray region and it is maintained by the Wodonga & District Turf Club. The race track is 306 kilometres north east of Melbourne and it can be reached via a three-hour and 20-minute drive. It also is located four kilometers south of Albury.
The race track of the Wodonga & District Turf Club is relatively flat with sweeping turns and wide straights. It also has loam soil and is amply irrigated. Its circumference is at 1700 metres and its home straight is 250 metres. The usual distances of the races that are staged here are 1000 metres, 1100 metres, 1200 metres, 1300 metres, 1400 metres, 1,600 metres and 2,050 metres.
The Wodonga & District Turf Club has seven horse racing meets per year at the Wodonga racing turf in Brockley Street. The most prominent of these races is the Wodonga Cup that is run in late November. The latest edition of the Wodonga Cup was won by the Mike Moroney-trained Syndrome and the prize pool for the race was $60,000.
Aside from the quality horse races, the Wodonga & District Turf Club also conducts non-racing functions and events. Membership to the Wodonga & District Turf Club is $90 and membership benefits include free entrance to all seven race meetings and a complimentary guest pass for all race meetings.
