About The Tralgon Races

The Traralgon Racecourse can be found at Mc Nairn Road, Traralgon, Victoria and it was originally the home of the Traralgon Racing Club. The Traralgon Racing Club had a steady foothold in Traralgon horse racing and it introduced innovations such as the totalisator in 1983. It also held 11 meetings per year and the highlight of which is the Traralgon Cup.

The date of the Traralgon Cup was then changed from February to mid-November to be a part of the Victorian Spring Racing Season. Horse racing in Traralgon prospered and it reached the million dollar income mark in 1997 when it gained $1,146,000.

However, the racing club folded and the Latrobe Valley Racing Club was formed as a replacement through the efforts of the local residents, businessmen and visitors. This united effort continued the presence of horse racing in Traralgon. Because of which, horse racing meets at Glenview Park are not just horse races. Instead, they are community social events that Traralgon residents support.

IASBETThe horse racing track of the Latrobe Valley Racing Club is well grassed while the surface is undulating. Meanwhile, it also has well cambered turns and clay loam soil. Usually, the races that are staged here have distances of 1,100 metres, 1,200 metres, 1,430 metres, 1,900 metres and 2,700 metres. The most prestigious races here are the Latrobe Valley Cup and the Traralgon Classic.

Membership to the Latrobe Valley Racing Club costs $40 dollars and membership benefits include a membership card which serves as the pass to all racing meets in Traralgon, access to the member’s room and members-only specified areas, reciprocal right on every horse racing club in Gippsland after a normal admission payment, club voting rights and discounts on use of facilities for personal events.

Meanwhile, business can avail of the $250 Business Bonus package which includes four transferrable membership cards, acknowledgment and a half-page advertisement on Cup Day racebooks and reciprocal right in other Gippsland racing clubs.
