The Devonport Races:

Devonport Racecouse
The Devonport Racecouse is located at Racecourse Road in Devonport and it caters to race distances of 990 metres, 1175 metres, 1380 metres, 1600 metres, 1800 metres and 2400 metres. The Devonport Racecourse has two starting chutes and all races here are staged counter-clockwise. The course has sweeping turns which makes it ideal for come-from behind victories.
The most prestigious event at the Devonport Races is the Devonport Cup which is held annually every early January and it has a race distance of 1800 metres. It is the eighth race of the 10-race Devonport Cup Day and the 2011 Devonport Cup was won by Dream Pedlar which is trained by Troy Blacker and guided to victory by Michael Guthrie. Dream Pedlar started from the 14th barrier.
Dream Pedlar is the pre-race favourite for the 2011 Devonport Cup with betting odds of 3.6 from Sportsbet, 3.6 from IASBEt, 3.7 from Centrebet and 3.6 from Luxbet. Coming in at second is the Adam Trinder-trained Borugino which started from the 12th barrier. Borugino was guided that day by jockey Ronan Keogh and it did not fare well at the betting odds market. Finishing at third place is Fierezza which is trained by David and Scott Brunton.
