About the Armidale Races
Located between Sydney and Brisbane on the New England Highway, Armidale is right at the heart of the New England Tablelands and it is two and a half hours away from the Australian coast along the scenic Waterfall Way. Town locals promote that the Armidale has a city ambiance in a country lifestyle and they are proud in having the Armidale Race Track.
The Armidale Race Track has a circumference of 1600 meters while its straight is 320 meters. Horse races on this course are usually run under five distances: 1000-meter, 1100-meter, 1200-meter, 1400-meter and 1900-meter. Races are run counter-clockwise and there are seven to eight races in this horse racing track every Saturday and Sunday.
The highlight event of the Armidale Race Track is the Armidale Cup that is just one of the eight races during the Armidale Cup weekend. This spectacle is such a big event in the Cathedral City that it was declared as a half-day holiday.
The other races that are included in the special horse racing day are the Hilliers Transport Slipper, The Richardson’s Hardware and Ag Modern, The Austral Bricks and Pavers Modern, the Armidale Ex-Services, The New England Real Estate, The Hardy’s Wines Newmarket and the Roberts and Morrow Fin Serv-Bm60.
