Brisbane Winter Carnival
Every winter, the southern state trainers and the New Zealand raiders head to Queensland for the Brisbane Winter Carnival. Eagle Farm is the venue that grabs centre stage with the running of the Stradbroke Handicap, the Queensland Derby and the Queensland Oaks but the Doomben Races hosts the Group 1 Doomben 10,000 a week prior to the official kickoff of the Brisbane Winter Carnival on Queensland Oaks day.

Brisbane Summer Carnival
While the Brisbane Winter Carnival is unquestionably the highlight on the racing calendar, the Brisbane Summer Carnival is not without its share of quality. Summer racing in Queensland centres around the Magic Millions Race Day on the Gold Coast.
The Magic Millions has etched its own distinct mark on the Australian racing calendar with every leading stable nationwide aiming their horses at the riches on offer. The Magic Millions is host to the $1million Conrad Jupiters Magic Millions 2yo Classic, this is the main feature race during the carnival and the 2009 winner, Phelan Ready would go on to win the 2009 Golden Slipper.
The Magic Millions has proven to be a good horses race with the Gai Waterhouse trained Dance Hero crowned champion 2YO in his Magic Millions winning year 2004. He became the first horse to win the Magic Millions – Golden Slipper double.
