Sunline is a New Zealand-bred race horse which was foaled in September 29, 1995 and was trained by T. McKee. During the 2002 Doncaster Mile, this mare was willed to victory by jockey Greg Childs. Sunline finished her career with 17 wins in 30 starts to earn AUD$5.56 million.
The 2003 Doncaster Handicap was won by Grand Armee in 1 minute, 36.8 seconds while Dash for Cash claimed a runner-up finish. Boreale finished the 2003 Doncaster Handicap in third place. Grand Armee was also trained by Gai Waterhouse and this once gelding has seven wins in 19 races. Grand Armee is sired by American-bred Hennessy and is the dam of Tambour.
Grand Armee was poised to win back-to-back Doncaster Miles but Private Steer thwarted his hopes by winning the 2004 Doncaster Handicap in 1 minute, 35.5 seconds while Ambulance finished in third place. Private Steer was trained by Lee Curtis and won this race with jockey Glen Boss. Private Steer went on to win three out of her seven career starts and she never finished lower than third place.
In the 2005 Doncaster Handicap, Patezza won over Court’s In Session and Danni Martine in 1 minute, 35.9 seconds. Patezza was foaled in October 12, 1998 and is the sire of Rubiton and the Dam of Stars Above. During the 2005 Doncaster Mile, Patezza edged 18 other race horses with jockey Danny Nikolic on board. This is the only victory that Patezza will have in his entire racing career.
Racing to Win won the 2006 Doncaster Mile over Johan’s Toy and Bentley Biscuit in 1 minute, 34.1 seconds. Racing to Win was trained by John O’ Shea and was also guided to victory by jockey Glen Boss. This gelding finished his career by winning eight races in 20 starts. He also had four runner-up finishes and he has collected total prize money of AUD$1.9 million.
Meanwhile, Haradasun took home the 2007 Doncaster Mile over Mentality and Divine Madonna in 1 minute, 38 seconds. Haradasun was foaled in November 8, 2003 and is trained by Aidan O’Brien.
