Magic Millions
Australian horse racing fans were treated to some intense action during the 2011 Gold Coast Magic Millions. Despite the recent flooding in Queensland, the race day pushed through and the races are now in the books. Two of the more exciting horse races in the schedule are the Magic Millions 2YO Classic and the Magic Millions 3YO Guineas.
Trainer Liam Birchley is set to break his Magic Millions Classic jinx this year by fielding second favourite Pepper Jet and his chances of winning have been bolstered by a good barrier draw. Carrying betting odds of 5.50, Pepper Jet will start from barrier four of the 2011 Magic Millions Classic while top favourite and undefeated Karuta Queen with betting odds of 3.20 will start from the tenth barrier.
Due to the heavy rainfall and flooding that affected Queensland, it seems that the Gold Coast Racecourse is in a bad condition. Thus, the staging of the 2011 Magic Millions Race Day on the 15th of January, 2011 can be moved to the 16th or in a latter time of the day. The re-scheduling will depend on the weather conditions a day before the original schedule of the race day.
To keep the Magic Millions carnival on the Gold Coast, the state government of Queensland will spend $15.7 million to keep the said horse racing carnival until 2010.
