Friday Night Racing At Melton Harness Races

The Joel Pengilly trained Gamechanger looks set to stake his claim for the Australian Pacing Gold glory when he lines up in the second round of heats tonight at Tabcorp Park Melton.
The 2YO son of Presidential Ball is drawn to lead and no doubt be the one to beat in race 8 on the card having posted 3 wins from 4 lifetime starts.
The Australian Pacing Gold Final will be run next Friday night on May 6 at Tabcorp Park Melton.
Should be able to build a bank early with Shorty Star for Daryl Douglas in the Claimer (Race2) set to enjoy the run of the race from his pole draw. Last start Warragul Cup winner Johnorama is entered and he comes off the back row.
I expect Johnorama to jump a well-supported favourite but he is going to be under the odds here from the second line. He led and handed up in the middle stages last start, no such luxury here.
There’s plenty of good racing to bet on at Melton Trots tonight with the Free For All sure to be another good betting affair.
The smart mare Broadways Best steps out in open company for the first time and hopefully we get to see some black figures for a change. She’s been 1/5 at her last two starts, zipping home in 55.2 and 56 even.
Decorated Jasper for Jodi Quinlan looks the only danger to the Chris Alford drive and if it gets out to a silly price it may pay to have a saver on this one. The old bloke has won his last two since putting up a herculean effort sitting outside Coastal in the Stampede when beaten 3 metres with Coastal going a 1:48.1 mile rate over the 1200m helter skelter trip.
