Sacred Choice Wins Doncaster Mile

The Joe Pride trained 5YO mare Sacred Choice decimated her rivals in the G1 Doncaster Mile (1600m) at Randwick yesterday, taking her stake earnings to over $1.9million since being purchased for the modest sum of $40,000 at the 2007 Magic Millions Gold Coast yearling sales.
Ridden by Tim Clarke, the Myer Classic winner powered away from her rivals in the straight on a rain affected track to score an effortless win. Love Conquers All battled on gamely for second with the Queenslander Bold Glance running on strongly along the rails to nail third placemoney for connections.
The heavens opened up overnight and Saturday racing at Randwick was on a Heavy 10 which saw the chances of race favourite More Joyous go out the window.
Plenty was said prerace about her draw being perfect but she got nowhere near the lead with Aloha being ridden upside down by Melbourne Cup winning jockey Glen Boss to take up the running.
Ultimately, that change of riding tactics didn’t help her chances with the Victorian raider the first horse beaten when they topped the rise in the straight.
Sacred Choice has now won two G1 races, the Myser Classic at Flemington during the spring carnival, ironically on a rain affected track where she blitzed two outstanding mares in Typhoon Tracey and Hot Danish.
