The track condition of the Moonee Valley Racecourse will determine if the Manikato Stakes-bound Reward for Effort will compete in the McEwen Stakes. The amazing sprinter will give the Group 3 McEwen Stakes a shot but trainer Peter Moody said that his horse might not compete if the track is under wet conditions.

Moonee Valley Racecourse
Recently, the track rating of Moonee Valley was a slow seven which is an improvement from the previous rating of eight. Moody said that his 2009 Blue Diamond Stakes winner is gunning a second Australian horse racing Group 1 victory via the 1200-metre Manikato Stakes at the night meeting at Moonee Valley on the 24th of September.
The four-year-old entire of Exceed and Excel has not yet graced the Moonee Valley Racecourse before and his team is planning to take him there early to familiarize himself to the track for the Group 1 Manikato Stakes.
After finishing seventh at the 2009 Golden Slipper on a heavy track, the 2010 Manikato Stakes competitor was inactive from competitive horse racing for 17 months due to a suspensory injury in the spring of 2009 when he was about to return at the Vain Stakes at the Caulfield Races.
Upon his return, Reward for Effort won at the 1100-metre Monash Stakes at Caulfield in July and at the 1100-metre Concorde Stakes at the Rosehill Racecourse in August to bring his career wins to four in six career starts.
The 1000-metre McEwen Stakes will have 13 competitors and joining Reward for Effort are Hay List, Arinos, Keano, Catapulted, Rostova and Morgan Dollar. Also, Peter Moody has not made a decision yet on Ghostmilk who missed her chance of competing as an emergency at the 1600-metre Makybe Diva Stakes which was dominated by Shocking.
However, the mare might compete in either the Stocks Stakes at Moonee Valley or the 1600-metre Listed Sin City Cup at Morphetville in Adelaide. Yet, the Moody stable does not want Ghostmilk to take on stablemate Typhoon Tracy if they were to decide that the Stocks Stakes will be her race.
Recently-named Horse of the Year Typhoon Tracy might continue her impressive run at either the Stocks Stakes or the 1600-metre, Group 2 Dato Tan Chin Nam Stakes. If she heads to the Dato Tan Chin Nam Stakes, she will compete against defending winner Whobegotyou and Shoot Out in what promises to be an exciting horse race.
In the 1400-metre Memsie Stakes at the Caulfield Racecourse, Typhoon Tracy finished fourth to So You Think, Whobegotyou and Shoot Out.
