After a convincing win at the Clamms Seafood Stakes, Rightfully Yours might have earned a ticked to the 1400-metre, Group 1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes at the Caulfield racecourse. Trainer Mick Price says that he would discuss their strategy for Rightfully Yours who gives out his best when he is well-rested and when he runs on soft ground. Rightfully Young also prefers Caulfield which is his home track.
While Price thought that he is vulnerable on the top of the ground, the soft going helped him very well. Jockey Glen Boss said that Rightfully Yours travelled very well from the barrier and he had an effortless run since then. Meanwhile, race apprentice Ben Knobel got his first city double from wins with Decorum and I’m A Hussy. The two gallopers from Tasmania enjoyed the soft Seafood Stakes track.
The 24-year-old Knobel began racing two years ago and his willingness to ride in Tasmania helped him earn a double victory. Meanwhile, the Warnambool-trained Moudre has to win the 2000-metre Naturalism Stakes at the Caulfield racecourse to gain an automatic entry to the $2.5 million Caulfield Cup.
After thrashing the opposition at the 1700-metre Listed Hocking Stuart Quality wherein he won by 3 ¼ lengths over runner-up Diggersanddealers, TAB SportsBest adjusted Moudre’s Caulfield Cup betting odds from 21.00 to 13.00. Though he is yet to take on top-notch horses, Moudre won all of his three city starts and is starting to look like a contender for the Caulfield Cup.
Jockey Craig Williams compared Moudre to emerging star Alcopop when the latter broke on to the Australian horse racing scene last spring and won at Flemington. Williams also compared his gelding to Leica Falcon, the race horse that he rode in a fifth-place finish at the 2005 Caulfield Cup. Williams also said that Moudre is a potential star that is relaxed but aggressive when competing.
