It is held over 1600 metres of the Caulfield races every year during the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival in October. Since it is staged over set weight conditions, colts and geldings must be 55.5 kilograms while fillies must be 53.5 kilograms to compete.
Its prize pool exceeds $1,000,000 and the first place winner will receive $600,000 in cash and $8000 worth of trophies.
