Intense Australian horse racing action continues this Saturday with two horse races that will fire up the race tracks. First of which is the 1000-metre, Group 3 San Domenico Stakes. This race is staged at the Randwick racecourse in Sydney and it has a prize purse of $125,000. The San Domenico Stakes is staged under set weights and penalty conditions which levels the playing field.

Major Races:
The San Domenico Stakes is often contested by three-year-old horses who are returning from a lengthy break to start their spring campaign. Some of these horses could be first up from the spell. Since it is staged in level weight conditions, the better three-year-old horses will gain an advantage.
Some of the famous horses that have won the San Domenico Stakes are General Nediym in 1997, Testa Rossa in 1999, Mistegic in 2001 and Gold Edition in 2006.
For the 2010 San Domenico Stakes, the 54.5-kilogram horse Solar Charged proves to be the pre-race favourite with an early market betting odd of 2.40 and a fixed place betting odd of 1.22. Next to him is Decision Time with an early market betting odd of 4.20 and a fixed place betting odd of 1.54. Not to be left behind is Brightexpectations with a 4.40 early market betting odd and a 1.58 fixed place betting odd.
Not to be disregarded is Obsequious which has a 5.00 early market betting odd and a 1.70 fixed place betting odd. Rounding up the top five is Spirit of Boom with a 12.00 betting odd and a fixed place betting odd of 3.10.
Completing the list for competitors for the 2010 San Domenico Stakes are Georgette Silk (21.00 early market betting odd, 5.00 fixed place betting odd), Butt I’m Ready (41.00 early market betting odd, 8.50 fixed place betting odd), Dove Lake (51.00 early market betting odd, 10.00 fixed place betting odd) and Renewed Vitality (101.00 early market betting odd, 21.00 fixed place betting odd)
Another race that will be staged on Saturday is the 1200-metre, Group 3 Jim Beam Missile Stakes which will also be held at Randwick. This weight-for-age event for horses aged three and up was formerly held at the Rosehill racecourse and had an original distance of 1100 metres. It also has a prize pool of $125,000.
For the 2010 Missile Stakes, Love Conquers All is the top favourite with a 1.75 early market betting odd and a fixed place betting odd of 1.07. His closest competitor is Danleigh with a 3.50 early market betting odd and a 1.29 fixed place betting odd. Sniper’s Bullet could be the dark horse of the race with an 8.00 early market betting odd and a 2.05 fixed place betting odd.
Cannonball and Prince Braeman will try to give the favourites a run for their money. Both of them have a fixed place betting odd of 16.00 and a fixed place betting odd of 3.50. Spirited One is also in the mix with a 17.00 early market betting odd and a fixed place betting odd of 3.80.
Rounding up the competitors list for the 2010 Missile Stakes are Sainthood (18.00 early market betting odd, 3.80 fixed price betting odd), Sophistication (41.00 early market betting odd, 7,50 fixed price betting odd) and Newport (101.00 early market betting odd, 18.00 fixed price betting odd).
