Hot Australian horse racing action continues this weekend with the 1500-metre STC Myer Winter Stakes at the Rosehill Racecourse. This quality Listed race has a total prize purse of $100,000 and it will be contested by twelve horses.
Caulfield-based trainer Peter Moody’s Ghostmilk proves to be the pre-race favourite. The six-year-old Golan mare was not able to compete at the VRC Winter Championship Final at the Flemington Racecourse which was won by her stable mate Doubtful Jack. Ghostmilk has drawn the fifth barrier for the Myer Stakes and she carries a betting odd of 2.80 with a fixed place bet of 1.41.
Another top competitor is Graeme Rogerson’s Listed Civic Stakes winner Illuminates. Having over 50 race starts to his credit, the five-year-old Strategic mare will start from barrier 12 with Corey Brown on its reins. Illuminates has a betting odd of 5.00 and a fixed place bet of 1.95
Local trainer David Payne’s Madibagold can prove to be the Myer Winter Stakes’ dark horse. The four-year-old Johannesburg gelding proves to be a strong contender after registering a third-place finish at the Listed Civic Stakes. Madibagold will start from the ninth barrier and it has a betting odd of 7.50 and a place fixed bet of 2.50
Warwick-based trainer Peter Snowden will field two horses at the Winter Stakes namely Gergis and Falaise. Gergis and Falaise finished fourth and second at the Listed Civic Stakes respectively. The seven-year-old Falaise will start from the fourth barrier while the four-year-old Gergis will start from the second barrier. Both horses have a 9.00 betting odd and a fixed place bet of 2.90.
Other horses that will compete at the Myer Winter Stakes with their betting odds and barrier draws are Adnocon (barrier six, 7.00), Mr. Unforgettable (barrier eight, 13.00), Black Routine (barrier ten, 18.00), O’Crikey (barrier three, 21.00), God’s Hand (barrier seven, 21.00) and Mothwing (barrier one, 67.00).
Their fixed place betting odds are as follows: Adnocon-2.40, Mr. Unforgettable-3.80, Black Routine-5.00, O’Crikey and God’s Hand-5.50 and Mothwing-15.00.
