OShea Keeps Music Review in Sydney
Though Music Review was nominated to race at the Group One Doomben Cup, its trainer John O’Shea will most likely let the thoroughbred stay in Sydney to prepare for more future races and see whether the horse can get a black-type win.
After turning in a solid performance at the 1600-metre Group 2 Emancipation Stakes in Randwick, the six-year-old race horse will participate in the 2000-metre, $100,000 Lord Mayor’s Cup at Rosehill wherein she drew the start from the inside barrier. Timothy Bell will partner Music Review and Informality for O’Shea at this race.
In last year’s Lord Mayor’s Cup, Music Review finished second to Penrickson when it was run at Canterbury over 1900 meters. After the 2010 Lord Mayor’s Cup, Music Review will most likely participate in the 2400-metre Listed McKell Cup and the 2400-metre Listed Winter Cup.
O’Shea showed disappointment that the Lord Mayor’s Cup is no longer under Listed status but he is still intent of keeping his horse in this race rather than to let her race in Listed Wagga Gold Cup. Speaking of the Listed Wagga Gold Cup, Scouting Wide trainer Tim Martin confirmed that his horse will not race at Rosehill but it will take its spot with stable mate Morecambe Bay in the 2000-metre Wagga Gold Cup.
O’Shea said that the Emancipation Stakes performance did not surprise him for Music Review has been in good condition throughout the preparation. O’Shea also added that the last run is just a view of her racing form after turning in a brilliant effort to defeat Joku at Randwick last autumn.
On the other hand, O’Shea stated that Informality, with two wins in three Rosehill starts, will race at the 1400-metre De Bortoli Wines Handicap. The gelding has pleased O’Shea with its impressive second-up race at Randwick wherein she finished fifth in the 1200-metre Listed Hall Mark Stakes. O’Shea added that they will test-run Informality for 1400-metre races.
