» Rodd Breaks Wrist in Trackwork Fall
Melbourne Cup winning Jockey Michael Rodd could miss the Melbourne Spring Carnival after a fall at Trackwork on Tuesday.
Rodd fell off a horse at Flemington breaking his wrist and suffering ligament damage.
It was Rodd’s first day back in the saddle after a holiday and no doubt one he would want to take back now that he faces a distinct possibility of sitting on the sidelines with the good horses coming back into work.
Rodd rides the stable stars Maldivian and Whobegotyou for trainer Mark Kavanagh while he also rode 2007 Melbourne Cup winner Efficient for prominent owner Lloyd Wiliams.
Rodd expects to miss at least six week but is fearful of the fact that the early prognosis was for a wrist reconstruction because of the ligament damage.
